I love the pure and creamy color of this smoothie. It looks nourishing--and it is (almonds, ground flax seed and yogurt see to that). And the taste? Well, I think it tastes like a warm-weather vacation in the midst of winter doldrums--citrus-y and a little tropical and that hint of cinnamon is just enough to make it exotic. And, it is yet another way to use fruit that has gone overly ripe on you and the only way to save its soul is to toss it in the freezer and hope you can find another use for it (find other uses here). Overly ripe pineapple and bananas?--meet Sunshiney Smoothie.
What kinds of smoothies do you make? Got your own personal house blend? Have your own crazy ingredients you like to add to your smoothies? Please share. Really--we'd love to know. A smoothie of the week club would go over just fantastically at my house...

Sort of a cheater smoothis, because it's more like a milkshake... frozen soy milk cubes, banana, nutella, peanut butter. YUM. I'm going to go make one right this second.
Thank you! Your blog post will be advertised on the CraftCrave Handcraft Items search engine today (look for timestamp: [26 Jan 02:00pm GMT]).
vanilla yoghurt, orange juice, frozen strawberries, cherries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, flax seed, carrots... my kids fight over it, it's so yummy...
I drink a smoothie every day! Usually a frozen banana, frozen berries, a whole apple, flaxseed oil and spinach or kale (they are green!)...but also I love coconut milk with frozen fruit too.
Thanks for sharing the recipe!
peanut butter AND nutella in one smoothie. Wow. I might have to try that one. Also, I like the idea of spinach or carrots in the smoothie...might have to try to slip those in one of these days without anyone noticing and see what the reaction is...
i usually stick to strawberries, blueberries, banana, yogurt, oj & ginger but i read your post just as it was breakfast time and HAD to try it.
i didn't have the mango and i completely blanked on the almonds and flaxs...used plain yogurt and added vanilla plus ginger & cinnamon and i think this is my new favorite smoothie!
thank you for sharing!
I am so surprised that I have not come across your blog until now. Oh my, is it ever lovely! And to think, I was just craving a smoothie. I'm looking forward to nosing about a bit more and will be making your bean bags very soon.
plain yogurt, spinach, flax seed oil, peanut butter, green tea (or chocolate soy milk!), frozen fruit mix, & 1 banana. Yum! I love trying new varieties of smoothies so yours will be next! Thanks!
mmmm...that sound good. And I could use that feeling here in mid0winter. I make fruit (any) smoothies with help seeds--super delicious.
glad I rediscovered your blog! it's been a while...
what are "help seeds"? I have never heard this term before...
This may sound odd, but it's a favorite at our house, so don't tell anyone what it is before they try it. ;-) Blend ½ a small avocado + ½ a blender-full of tangy limeade. It’s unbelievably yummy, and nobody will ever guess what’s in it! :-9
That sounds yummy!
Forgot to say... Thank you for posting a smoothie that not only sounds delish, is made with ingredients I can actually find in Brazil! Can't wait to try it! :)
I use whole, raw almonds, but I soak them in some water overnight. By morning, they easily blend up to a creamy base for any smoothie. And I'm pretty sure there's something positive in there about enzymes being activated because they think they're about to sprout. In fact I've been meaning to post about it, just haven't bothered taking pictures.
Just found you. Love your blog!
Just starting to get into a "smoothie a day" routine and looking forward to trying new combos. Current one is banana, frozen wild blueberries, frozen strawberries, a dash of vanilla, two large tablespoons of vanilla organic yogurt and almond milk - YUM!
