I purchased this sumptuous plant-dyed wool felt from A Child's Dream Come True a couple of months ago on a whim when I was reordering some their other more traditionally dyed wool felts. The plant-dyed colors just caught my eye and when I slipped them out of their mailing envelope, I think my pulse quickened. I really am at a loss to describe it, but there is something about the colors of these felts that is so much more extraordinarily gorgeous than other wool felts.
So, they have been sitting right on top of my work table all this time, awaiting the right inspiration, the right project, the thing to evolve into...and I've got nothing. Every time I look at them, I am still as in love with them as the day they arrived, but I just cannot work out what the right project is for this lovely felt, in all these rich, natural colors. I know--this should not be hard. And I really am eager to cut into the pieces and make something...but what?
So I ask, what would you make with these pieces of felt if they were yours?

Felt food! These colors would make much more natural looking food than some of the store-bought brights. I'm seeing some fresh farmer's market vegetables...
I always end up making felt flowers for headbands or hair clips with felt. But you have so much felt... maybe a bigger project. Felt play things are always fun... felt mail & mail box... felt food... felt finger puppets... I don't know. Can't wait to see what you make.
At the moment I'm decoration my house with felt flowers so would make lovely flowers of them and for my boy some lovely play thing...
Love the colors. Felt birds maybe. And anything from here (this is not my blog, I wish I were so talented!)

I would be making felt food, as Kelly suggested. Those colors would be great for fruits and veggies. Or maybe some imaginatively colored animals? Have you asked Beeper? His love of rainbows might guide you.
I have not asked Beeper--but that is a great idea...
Awesome colors Holly! If they where mine I'd make these...

or this (most like this)...

There's no pattern but it looks like with a little playing around it would be easy. Have fun and can't wait to see what you make... off to hunt through my own felt stash now! : )
I have always wanted to make the felt woodland elf hat from Amy Karol's 'Bend the Rules'.
Also on my to-do list is felt finger puppets.
I would make a flower pin so you could still look at it and admire the colors. Felt food is nice too, but I don't share well :)
My immediate thought was a felt name book. Wouldn't that be awesome! I'm soooo jealous!
the colors are stunning! how about a felt mosaic piece for a pillow?
I think I would make a felt fringe skirt for a doll or teddy bear.
felt birds!
I was going to say felt food too. My kids are really into playing shops right now so they would love it!
Samantha--what is a felt name book?
Also, loved those coasters in the Martha link...
Lisa--totally relate because I have to admit I sort of do not want to share this with anyone either...but some felt flower pins do sound lovely and might be a nice way to share...
and felt birds? I love birds...although I still have that bird mobile on my list of things to make yet this summer--in addition to several dozen other things...
felt baby booties!
Make a felt crown for your little one. :)
I would be making felt fruits, veggies, and animals to accompany the felt card table house I intend to make some day. Similar to this: http://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/2009/10/felt-playhouse.html
I'd make a appliqued clock or picture (stretched over a canvas frame) so I could see the gorgeous colours - and some felt animals
Those colors would make a beautiful summer crown for little ones! I'm also thinking of a name banner to decorate a room :D Can't wait to see what you do with them! They are gorgeous!
Something like these: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3559/3331119037_c69a6f5c5b.jpg
Maybe with a little bell inside so they could be used as rattles, cool juggling balls or made into a fun garland!
make some big, blowzy flowers & leaves and attach them to a grapevine wreath.
I would definitely have to make myself a few flowers for my hair, or as a lapel pin, but then the rest I would use to make a felt garden for my little ones to plant and harvest!
I just made my own version of these with wild color/ floss combinations. Though I didn't just make fish, I also made an octupus, jellyfish, stingray, squid, etc..

Have you seen the felt house tutorial from Checkoutgirlcrafts? Sooooooo fabulous!
Felt flower clips for sure since I love luxurious wool felt in hair...and a quiet book--matching colors or ABC's or something
I make alot of baby things and purses. these are beautiful colors.
and could be used for about any age group
I've been making a lot of these. I'm using cheap felt, and they get pilly pretty fast.

I'd make gloves plus matching crown or mask, and cape (using felt for designs on the cape.
Right now I'm dreaming of making a huge felt board, but not with such fine felt!
finger puppets or items for a felt board - scenery/people/animals etc. Just wanted to mention I posted a link to your very cool website on mine - http://parentplanet.wordpress.com/2010/07/15/great-sites-7-15/
There are so many different ways you could do a felt name book, but here's one I really like with a lot of good photos: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=71926.0
All the other ideas are great, too. Felt food is something on my list of somedays too.
Thanks for the link, Samantha--that name book is A-mazing. So colorful and detailed...and I do love the idea of it.
I would do felt board stories! It's a 'classic' toy that is making a comeback. Maybe this would be some inspiration for you:

Also on my blog I have instructions for making a felt lap board:
